Pumpkin Fairies
I made these for a little kid's Halloween swap on Swap-bot; inspired by these acorn fairies. It was nice to put together a package of "girl" Halloween items. I made my youngest a pumpkin man, but he tore off his clothes and leaf hat before I could take the picture. I caught him gnawing on the poor doll's head in the corner of the room - boys.
Pumpkin Pie Cake
1 box yellow cake mix (reserve 1 cup)
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup melted margarine
Mix above and spread in greased 9 x 13 pan
1 lb. can pumpkin
2 teaspoons cinnamon
3 beaten eggs
2/3 cup of milk
1/2 cup brown sugar
Mix and pour over cake mix
Topping:
1 cup reserved cake mix
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup firm margarine
Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes - serve with whipped cream.
My husband really enjoyed this cake. I liked it, but pumpkin anything is not my first choice if I want to eat something sweet, which is good because then I won't eat half of it the next day (like a pan of brownies). I also thought this tasted better on the second day. This recipe is from a cookbook created by ladies from a church. It was my mom's and I like it because some of the pages are missing - you want to make the recipe, but it just ends and the rest is a mystery.
More pumpkin photos:
It's been too warm to keep these outside, so this is where they sit waiting to be painted or carved. Maybe I should have cleaned the refrigerator before posting a picture of it, oh well.
Love all you pumpkins!

I love those pumpkin fairies. We have been gifted large amounts of orange yarn - it would make great hair. And those acorn caps - brilliant.
