I wanted to finish decorating the house for Halloween, but the first round of Fall colds hit us this weekend. So I put stuff up here and there, while the rest is still in boxes.
I like vintage looking decorations and for some reason seem to have a lot of cats (I will post more photos later this week). This cat is my favorite - I picked it up a couple of years ago at a farmer's market.
I bought this Nyokki pumpkin at Hearthsong. I feel like his hair should be styled, but I like it wild.
The rest of the pictures are from a local pumpkin farm that used to be a simple place to go. Now there are amusement park rides, a hayride, petting zoo, and vendors selling elephant ears. When did elephant ears become the staple of every holiday celebration? I went to a Swedish fest and they were selling them - are they Swedish? Perhaps you love elephant ears, but I think eating one in the midst of crazy bee season in a crowd with the mass of dough trying to topple over is a mistake. Anyway, my aunt used to know the people who own this farm and one year my brother picked pumpkins, and another we dressed in costumes in freezing weather while children taunted and kicked us for $12. My brother was E.T. and I was Miss Piggy. Back then the festivities were limited to looking at painted wood decorations, torturing E.T., picking out a pumpkin, and drinking some apple cider. Even though it is crazy with too many people, I have to go every year.
Now I want to go back and take a picture of an elephant ear...
