I've been chatting too much on Facebook, so it feels weird typing full sentences and not LOLing all over the place. What do you think of the LOL? I kind of like to type the word out. Anyway...The Host. I couldn't put it down at the beginning, the middle was painful, and the end was well, predictable. It was a good book though, the idea of alien body snatchers is always interesting.
My problem with the story was the love quadrangle - Ian and Wanda, Melanie and Jared. It was too weird when Jared was kissing Melanie and Wanda...more so when Melanie moved aside so Wanda could have her kisses with Ian. I don't know why everyone has to have a love by the end of the book. Can't some people just be looking? Ian was a distraction, and I really doubt he would love her in the form of a worm. What did you think?
What did you think about the happy ending? If the story had continued on, how would you have liked it to play out? Happy endings are fine, but why does everything have to be perfect - the soul who was supposed to be removed, gets to stay and of course, fall in love. Melanie gets another body, but not one that matters, and a cute one! I know, this is just a nice love/science fiction story, but a little icky would have been good.
I did like the battle between Melanie and Wanda - that Melanie was still present and wouldn't give Wanda her mind.
I'd like to hear your thoughts and I will add some more to this. Did you like the Twilight books more? I think I know your answer.
