I'm not sure how to explain these photos...boredom...my new remote control for my camera? I wanted to try something different.

I think I need Spring so I can get outside with my camera.  
 

Field Museum

I don't want to brag, but we have some of the best museums out here. We had to get out of the house today, so we took the train into the city. I don't know when these places started charging so much, but I remember a lot of them were free or $5. Today just to walk in with a coupon for 1 free admission was $85.

It was a good day...the kids are tired & I brought my camera so I could see how strange my pictures could be. I don't know why I do this, but I like to go places were most people would take a photo of a mummy, but I choose the stairs.

Santa brought me a tripod for Christmas, so now I can take photos of myself. Not that I will...I don't like pictures of me. My husband thinks this photo is too washed out. He might be right, but it makes me feel more hidden. I've lost 35 pounds in the last 6 months, so I hope that I find more photos of myself good. Of the 6,000+ pictures on my computer, there are about 3 of me. My husband tries to use my camera, but they are usually out of focus or in focus on my big double chin. Looking forward to new things this year... 

Winter Wonderland

We had perfect snow yesterday; the kind that sticks to everything. I broke into the forest preserve by our house early, so I could photograph the snow. I don't know why, but the forest preserve is closed for the winter. I only had to climb a little fence. It was beautiful and I was the only one there, except for a Cardinal who taunted me...would have made the best picture, but I couldn't get close enough. This is the best I could do;

Trying New Things

I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to my photos. I don't like to change them too much. I will crop or adjust the brightness, but that's about it. This is my first attempt at playing with color in a black and white photo. It was easier than I thought. I have a random photo program that was loaded on our computer when we bought it. Give me your honest opinion on this photo; what would you do different? Is Photoshop worth the investment?

Throwing Money in the Air at the Zoo

 

I know I post pictures of the zoo every year, but this is our life. We are fortunate to have such a nice zoo so close, but it's expensive. I would become a member, but I don't want the kids to go so much they no longer find it interesting. We did binge on Mold-A-Ramas...

 

This was my husband's fault. A hunter gatherer instinct took over and he wanted to find ones we didn't have.

The butterfly exhibit is our favorite. It's a walk in screened house and they are everywhere.

 

Luna Moth; I wanted to get closer, but I didn't want to break the rules and walk in the garden. They were hanging out on the outer screens. So pretty.

 

 

Isn't this obnoxious? I had to buy one for the kids. $8! Zoo management knows how to remove your money; every kid had one. They will all poop blue for a week.

 

Other favorite animal; the dangerous and rarely viewed BBQ chip eating Chipmunk. I may have thrown that chip to him.

I hope to post about The Host tonight, the kids are not cooperating with my wish to type on the computer right now.
