Lost Peg Dolls Revealed, Giveaway on Monday

 

"Oh, Sawyer I am so happy now living in Dharmaville with you. I fix carburetors and you are a security guard...what could possibly ruin our bliss? Wait...did you hear that noise?"

 

"Hi guys...hate to ruin your picnic, but Jack wants to blow up the Swan station with a hydrogen bomb."

 

"Locke, I can't stop staring at your ear...there is so much wax in there."

 

"I'm not supposed to eat chocolate before dinner."

 

The Lost giveaway; you can read Lost Ate My Life, and Judy Blume (like Sawyer), pack your lunch and impress your coworkers with Dharma lunch bags, and put your Sawyer mug (not pictured, still waiting for it to be shipped) on your Dharma coasters. I have to read all of your answers because I'm not sure if any of us are right - do we know what the incident really is? We will have to wait until next season to see who really died, so I may put your names in a hat. Does this sound fair? I will announce the winner Monday. I am still working on the peg dolls, it was difficult to paint real people and I hope they sort of resemble the characters. I wanted to paint them all, but ran out of time and patience.

Also on Monday there will be a new giveaway here - I was contacted by Make Good Books and they have generously offered to giveaway four books. I will have more details on Monday.

Lost Season 5 Finale; The Incident

Please don't read if you haven't watched this episode!

I wanted to spend time and write the bestest Lost post ever, but I have to write my thoughts down now because I need to hear what you think. I have mixed feelings about the finale; it wasn't what I expected. I'm still confused, and I'm done with the Kate/Juliet/Sawyer/Jack love quadrangle. Let's discuss:

I was shocked Jacob was revealed in the first minutes. This scene was important; the black on the new mystery man and white on Jacob. We've seen black and white before, and if this was a predictable show we could guess that Jacob is good, and Man in black bad. I'm going to assume the ship in the distance was the Black Rock ship, perhaps the one that carried Richard..or Ricardo.

Their conversation:

MIB, "You brought them here. Trying to prove me wrong aren't you?"

Jacob, "You are wrong."

"Am I?" "They come, they fight, they destroy, they corrupt. Always ends the same."

"It only ends once, anything that happens before that is just progress."

"Do you have any idea how badly I want to kill you?"

"Yes."

"One of these days sooner or later I will find a loophole my friend."

"When you do, I'll be right here."

So who/what are they? Is Jacob a God like person, trying to get a group of people to be good, to find their purpose and not destroy the island? Or is Jacob amusing himself by finding people and testing them to see how they will behave? Does his friend want to kill him because he is evil or sick of sitting on the island playing "Risk" with Jacob?

1. We see Jacob visiting Kate and Sawyer as children, he attends Jin and Sun's wedding, gives Jack a candy bar, appears to heal Locke, and leaves Hurley with the mystery guitar case.
2. Richard says he doesn't age because of Jacob. Is this Richard's reward for being a good person or punishment for something?
3. Richard was visiting Locke in the past to see if he was special, Jack told him he shouldn't give up on him.
4. Eloise was their leader and pregnant.
5. Vincent, Bernard, and Rose are living in retirement on the beach. I didn't like Bernard with the new crazy island man look. Rose offered them some tea and lectured them..."It's always something with you people, you traveled back in time and are still finding ways to shoot each other." "It's all that matters in the end - being together." I think Rose wins the Jacob special purpose contest.
6. Book Jacob was reading before Locke came crashing out of the window, Everything that Rises Must Converge, by Flannery O'Connor . Would you be interested in reading this book for the Summer? Maybe for the book club I've ignored?
7. Ben is a Pisces.
8. I wanted to cry when Sun found Charlie's ring...DS.
9. Jacob tells Jack when he hands him the Apollo bar, "Guess it just needed a little push."
10. Eye roll moment; when Jack told Sawyer the reason he wants to blow up the island is because Kate is not his girlfriend. "I had her." I suppose it would be nice to have a boyfriend that will detonate an H-bomb for you, but this seemed like a useless scene. How many times are they going to fight? How much blood can Jack get on him?
11. Juliet decides it's a good idea to blow everything up. Why? Kate again! She thought Sawyer was making googly eyes at Freckles and now she would rather not know him than love him and lose him. Whatever.
12. Sayid. Oh no...we will have to wait until next season to find out.
13. I liked the scene between Jacob and Hurley. Hurley offered him a fruit roll-up and told him he was cursed. Jacob told him that he may not be cursed, but blessed because he can still talk to those who died.
14. Miles brought up an interesting point, "What if the nuke is the incident." The thing you are trying to prevent is what Jack is doing?
15. More, Live together, die alone happy love...longing looks at each other as they throw a bomb down the well.
16. The scene with Juliet falling down the well with Sawyer crying was awful, but we don't know if she is dead. Which scene was sadder - Sun screaming for Jin or Sawyer for Juliet? How much effort do you think Kate put into helping Juliet with the chains?
17. What did Ricarrrrdo say to Ileana? Was that Latin?
18. So Ben kills Jacob because he was ignored. Typical. Interesting how the new Locke was able to manipulate him by playing on his weaknesses. Ben, "What about meeeeeee?" Jacob, "What about you?" Was it just me or was that the most awkward stabbing you have seen on TV?
19. Jacob whispers, "They are coming." Who? Ilana and the Others? Or is it Jack and Co.?
20. I knew there was going to be a body in the crate, just not John Locke's. So, the Man in Black found his loophole and killed Jacob. Does this mean John Locke is dead or duplicated? Does the John Locke in the crate have shoes on? Is the talking John Locke an evil twin? Why does Jacob use the body of Jack's Dad to talk to people, yet walks around in the real world handing out candy bars? Can Jacob take over the other body of John Locke?
21. Juliet ends the season with a little rock... bang, bang, bang-white light.
22. Previews for 2010- nothing but what appears to be Jack's eye opening. My theories - his eyes will open back in the jungle when the plane first crashed and they will spend next year trying to get things right. They will move forward to find out Locke is evil and the war will begin. The plane will land and Mrs. Hawking will have to convince them they have to go back again because they left Juliet in the well.

What did you think? Was it everything you dreamed of and more? Do we know what the incident was? Is Juliet and Sayid dead? Is Desmond coming back? Who is evil/good? Why was Ilana in the hospital and how does she know Jacob?

I will try to figure out the giveaway by Friday, and I will have more to add to this as I read your comments. Now what do we do on Wednesday nights?

Add: You must read Doc Jensen's theories - I love the one that the Losties will return to the point where Jacob visited them, but will remember what has happened - question is, will they return to the island?

Lostmas Eve :: Season Finale

The husband asked tonight, "So is everyone who watches Lost like a Star Trek dork?" I told him that J.J. Abrams was one of the creators of Lost and the new Star Trek movie. "Then you are all Star Trek, Lost, and let me guess...Star Wars dorks?" Well maybe not all three, but I am a proud Lost dork. We love it because it requires high intelligence to ponder smoke monsters, love quadrangles, and dead fathers walking around an island!

These are the Lost coasters I made for the giveaway. My husband also had a wise crack about these, "So, would you have a Lost party and bring these out and pretend you are part of the Dharma Initiative?" Um, yes. I also thought the winner could pretend they are Sawyer and Juliet, and when you have the Dharma people over, you use the white side, and when Kate is visiting, ruining your night, the green. The giveaway will have 2 books, some Dharma paper bags, these coasters, and Lost peg people. I am trying to scramble and finish them. It's really difficult to paint real people on a peg doll frame, especially Sawyer. So, if they look awful, lie to me.

I wish you lived near me because I would have a Lost party and we could drink Dharma beer, like this, or have food like this with a 15 year old cracker tray, Jin's sushi, Hurley's candy bars, and four toed cookies. I would send you an invitation.

Lost, Follow the Leader

Please do not read if you have not watched tonight's episode. Is next week the end of this season? I thought we had two more weeks, but it looks like next week is two hours? Please tell me it will be two hours. I'm scrambling to get our Lost giveaway together; I tried something crafty that is creating problems, so I hope to solve it by this weekend.

1. Tonight everyone found their purpose; John has a purpose, Ben is following orders, and Jack suddenly believes he must detonate a bomb to put things back the way they should be.
2. Interesting comment Ben made about Richard, "He's a kind of adviser, and he has had that job for a very, very long time." Adviser? Like for Charles Schwab? Jacob? Anyone who has a purpose? What was the significance of Richard making a boat in a bottle? Why does Richard seem confused by what Locke is doing?
3. Locke seems to be letting the power go to his head. He brings a fine dinner of Swine Flu to his new people and demands that Richard go with him on an errand, which is to help him in the past. Richard informs Sun that he knows her husband because he watched them all die - so, in the other past they messed up?
4. I don't like the new passive Ben, he has become the disgruntled employee, whispering to Richard after he says that Locke may be trouble, "Why do you think I tried to kill him?" Locke seems to enjoy torturing Ben, "The island told me...didn't it tell you to do things?" Ben, "No, John, but clearly it hasn't told you where Jacob is, or you wouldn't need Richard to show you." Locke, "You've never seen him." "What, did too." "Did not, he's my BFF." "No, my BFF!"
5. Kate doesn't want to reset time and disagrees with Jack that all of this has been misery. Jack wants everyone lost to be alive again, and doesn't care if that means he won't know Kate. She doesn't want 3 years of her life erased, and I can't blame her - all those naked moments with Sawyer. Sure, she was kidnapped, tortured, chased and shot at, but it's a small price to pay. She tells Jack he is starting to sound like Locke, "He was crazy too Jack."
6. Loved the scene between Dr. Chang and Hurley, "What year were you born?" Hurley, "1931" "You are 46...you fought in the Korean War?" Hurley,"There's no such thing." "Who is the President of the U.S.?" "Alright dude, we are from the future." So, Dr. Chang knows that Miles is his son, but he doesn't hug him, just sort of stares at him. It was still a good moment, I shed a tiny tear for Miles and his Daddy.
7. Dr. Chang believes them and orders all women and children off the island and Sawyer and Juliet get to go too. I changed my mind about the Sawyer vs. Kate vs. Juliet then, I wanted them to be happy - buy their Microsoft stock and bet on the Super Bowl, but Kate shows up, the biggest third wheel and ruins everything. Can you imagine being Juliet, you finally get your man and who shows up? Freckles...and you know she is going to start babbling about the bomb and blah, blah, blah and they are going to have to go back or jump off the sub. I bet Juliet is going to die and then Sawyer can really hate Jack.
8. Great line from Sayid, "If this works, you might just save us all, and if it doesn't at least you will put us out of our misery." Sayid's days are numbered too, he doesn't trust Eloise, and I think he may be right.
9. The big reveal, Locke plans to kill Jacob. I didn't see that coming. Why does he want to do this? I'm so confused as to who is good or who is crazy. Jacob better not turn out to be some B movie monster - a giant swamp leech made with bad special effects. Why does Richard seem concerned that they arrive without notice? What does he want to tell Locke in the tent before he starts a coup?
10. Next week - season finale; Sawyer & Jack have a bloody face, Sawyer is back on the island, Sawyer says, "I don't speak destiny," and someone opens the box the people who arrived on the last plane brought. Any guess as to what's in the box? Please not another dead body. Speaking of boxes - remember the box Ben told Locke about - the one that you could imagine something and it would appear? Where is it? So, we need to find out - where the dog is, where are Rose and Bernard, what's in two boxes, who the war is between, who is good vs. evil, what the incident is, if Sawyer will kiss Kate or Juliet, when will Desmond go to the island, what is in Hurley's guitar case, and if Locke can kill Jacob. Could Daniel be Jacob? Trapped between time and space because of an experiment gone bad? Whew.

I have to add more to this post after thinking about it all night; why didn't they bury Daniel? She didn't even cover his face with the blanket, just put in on like he was sleeping. Also, could Locke be Jacob - trapped in the well he went down - in whatever year that was? Is that why he needs Ben...so he can kill him again? Can Locke kill Locke? Now that would make for some strange TV.

                     

Lost, The Variable

If you haven't watched this episode, please do not read this - spoilers!

This one left me with goosebumps, so this will be a lot of rambling because I want to hear what you think.

1. Wow, I'm glad Eloise was not my Mother. Eloise. "Good Lord, no," when Penny asked her if Ben was her son - maybe they would have been a better pair.

2. We know that Eloise was his Mom and Widmore said he was his father, but when Eloise slapped him I don't know if that was for late child support or if it meant he wasn't.

3. Daniel was crying about the plane and didn't know why. Something happened to him - I'm assuming from his time travel experiments. Widmore tells him the island may heal him, so this is why he had Charlotte testing his memory when they made it to the island. WIdmore admits to sinking the fake plane.

4. I felt so bad for Daniel. All he wanted was his Mom to be proud of him. I wanted to cry when she shot him and he said, "You knew, you always knew. You knew this was going to happen and you sent me here anyway." He goes to the island because she said it would make her proud.

5. It was curious when Eloise told Penny that she wanted to apologize for Desmond getting mixed up in a conflict that is "bigger than him, bigger than all of us." "For the first time in a long time, I don't know what is going to happen next." So, Eloise and WIdmore seem to be trying to fix something and they know how the story unfolds, but Daniel becomes a variable they can't predict. She no longer knows what will happen because everything they do from here is a result of Daniel trying to change things with his journal. He believes in free will, that they can change their destiny - heard that before.

6. Daniel wants to use the hydrogen bomb to destroy the Swan station, which will prevent a catastrophic event. He wants Dr. Chang to evacuate the island. More on this later.

7. Daniel says as a child, "I can make time."

8. Love Sawyer's welcome to Daniel, "Welcome to the meeting Twitchy...the cupcakes are in the kitchen, help yourself to the punch."

9. I'll have to look for a screen shot, but the magazine Widmore moved when he sat down was Wired and the front read, "The impossible gets real."

10. Hurley was surprised they were in 1954, "Like Fonzie times."

11. Ugh, Charlotte as a child is still creepy, "Not allowed to have chocolate before dinner."

12. Do you think Dr. Chang now believes Miles is his son?

13. Widmore tells Eloise one of the things he has had to sacrifice was his relationship to Penny, this makes her mad because she knows soon she will be shooting Daniel.

14. Desmond reminds Penny that he promised he would never leave her again. I think he is going to have to return to the island.

15. Why does it seem like Eloise and Widmore are making things up as they go? How to they know the future? Is it like Desmond suddenly remembering things - when she shoots Daniel, it is the same time as when she was crying while he was playing the piano. Do the dates fit?

16. Daniel wants to prevent the Swan from being built, which will keep their plane from crashing and the freighter's arrival. In the previews for next week it appears that they are trying to do what Daniel set out to do. So, if they are successful, does the show end with their plane landing in L.A. or do they crash because whatever happened, happened? Was there always going to be a catastrophic event at the Swan or did their arrival, per Eloise's misguided instructions cause the event? If the story ends with their plane landing, does this mean none of them will remember what happened and they will be strangers. I'm not sure if I would like this ending, but it would make for a nice reunion.

17. I'm going to miss Dan.

18. Next week; Some people are being evacuated on the sub - which includes Sawyer and Juliet. Jack looks beat up, but swims under something to enter a chamber - is it what lies beneath the statue? Do you think the people on the beach with the guns now are the Dharma people who were evacuated on the sub? If they do something to go back to Locke time and Sawyer and Juliet are on the sub - where will they end up? How will we survive the Summer without Lost?

Lost Withdrawal

I could have cleaned or started the quilt, but I watched the rerun episode tonight. I knew it was a rerun, but they said, "From a different perspective," so I thought it might be worth watching. It was not.

Next week is the 100th episode is titled "The Variable." We are going to see a back story on young Daniel - oh I hope we see him at age 5 wearing a tie. There may be Mrs. Hawking (young), Widmore, and Desmond. The title is curious, is Desmond the variable and he has the ability to shift the whatever happened happened theory? Where did Daniel go when he left the island? Eloise is still on the island in 1977, so did he leave her a secret message somewhere? He must find some way to get back to 2007; just in time to grab a gun and fight the new what lies in the shadow of the statue people.

Will someone die to mark the 100th episode?

Where are Rose & Bernard? Are they hanging out at the camp for 3 years?

At the end of tonight's episode, they set up a poll so you can vote on your favorite love scene; Jack & Kate, Jack & Juliet, Kate & Sawyer, Juliet & Sawyer - who cares.
