Ladies, I think it 's time we come clean about Twilight. I've been speed reading the series the last two weeks and I am on book 3 (no spoilers please)...I am hooked. I feel like a 13 year old girl and all that is missing is an Edward poster on my bedroom wall. Don't think the husband would find that amusing. It's not just me, I know it, I Googled it. A coworker told me his wife was reading the books too and she rented the movie first and then checked it out again after she read the book. He said she didn't like the movie and wanted to see how different it was after she read the book. Oh, of course, she was doing a comparative literary study.
So what is it about these books? I think it's super dreamy Edward (or Jacob if you are in that corner). I was in camp Edward until Jacob made her that present and forced kissed her. If you have not read these books, Edward is a vampire and Jacob is a werewolf. I know, silly! But, well, so interesting. Trust me, just go get it and when the cashier at Target asks you if you need a gift receipt for your TEEN romance book, just shrug.
Aside from the fact that Edward is a vampire and wants to drink her blood, he makes women crazy and I wanted to discuss why. I think men would be wise to pick these books up or watch the movie to see what it is that women want. I made a list, please add some more;
- He is very attentive to Bella, always staring at her and yes, a stalker does the same thing, but Edward makes it seem less creepy.
- The kiss; men often forget that women like their faces touched or lips brushed behind the ears or neck - they hurry too much. (Edward has to take his time because he is afraid he will lose control and drain her blood).
- Women will not admit this, but the damsel in distress thing is not so bad. She is really clumsy and falls a lot and he is right there to pick her up and carry her home, mend her broken bones, and then kiss her...
- The car door, yes, open it like Edward does. Sure you can't race around the vehicle with vampire speed, but is this so hard?
- Not only does he open doors, but he worries when she doesn't eat, he picks her up for school, and makes her CDs.
- He reads.
- He plays the piano and has a large selection of music.
-
Jacob - he pretty much does the same things as Edward - o.k. he is a little pushy, but he made her that present and well, it was perfect. He also loves to hug - and he is warm, because he is a werewolf.
-
Women like bad boys, but not really "bad." Jacob and Edward are dangerous, yet kind and compassionate.
-
Did I mention the attentive thing? Yes, pay attention boys!
I'm done humiliating myself on the internets. Care to join me? Which one Edward or Jacob? Remember, I didn't finish the 4th book yet...
